Here’s a quick example of us drawing our version of Willie The Lion Smith’s face. We use the word stylizing to mean “a visual interpretation of the object so that it is recognizable, but has the artist’s style present”. That may seem obvious, but maybe the part that isn’t is the fact that an artist’s style reflects his or her personality, and of course everyone’s personality is different. So, if you are hiring an artist, designer, (or even writer or musician) be sure to look at their work and make sure it fits what you are hiring them for, because it’s easier to hire the personality/style that fits the job, rather than try to force a square style into a round hole.
